Investment in energy efficiency in the industry cost-effective in a year or two.

Investing in increase of energy efficiency of industrial processes is in most cases is cost-effective after one or two years, it was said at a workshop "Optimization of Industrial Processes through Energy Efficiency Measures - Practical Examples and Case Studies" held today in Sarajevo.

Participants noted that the percentage of energy that can be saved by increasing efficiency varies depending on the type of industry and production process, but that in average it is 15 percent.

Advisor at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in BiH for Small Enterprises Zihnija Hasovic said that the EBRD in BiH, through two cycles so far, has invested 75 million euros in loans for energy efficiency projects.

"At the moment, we have a credit line for competitiveness and approximation to the EU standards worth 20 million euros via three local banks, which is also open to projects for the increase of energy...
